A leading waste management company is seeking enthusiastic HGV Class 2 Drivers to work closely with teams of loaders to help collect refuse waste from the streets of Coventry and Birmingham.

The Role

We are seeking reliable and skilled HGV Class 2 Drivers to join our busy commercial and residential waste management team located in Coventry. The ideal candidates will have experience in commercial driving, particularly with Dust Cart vehicles. This role involves collecting waste efficiently and safely while ensuring excellent communication with your team of loaders and the general public. A strong team-working spirit will be advantageous for this position, as it will involve assisting your loader colleagues in collecting and loading rubbish.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate dust cart vehicles to collect and transport waste to designated locations.
• Ensure timely collection and delivery of waste while adhering to all traffic laws and company policies.
• Communicate and assist loaders to effectively coordinate the collection and loading of waste
• Conduct routine inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition and report any mechanical issues promptly.
• Maintain accurate records of collections, including mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery confirmations.
• Provide excellent customer service on routes, addressing any questions or concerns from residents or clients.

Experience & Qualifications

• Proven experience as a HGV Class 2 Driver is essential. Experience as a Dust Cart Driver will be advantageous and desirable.
• Valid HGV Class 2 driving licence with a clean driving record - no more than 6 points and no major endorsements.
• Up-to-date CPC and Tacho cards
• Familiarity with waste depot operations and logistics processes is beneficial.
• Strong communication skills to interact effectively with team members and clients.
• Basic mechanical knowledge to perform routine vehicle checks and maintenance tasks.
• Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• A commitment to safety and adherence to all relevant regulations while on the road.
