A leading local authority consulting firm is seeking a Legal Manager to provide high-level legal advice and lead an in-house legal team. The successful candidate will have strong supervisory skills and a background in Local Authority law. Key responsibilities include managing legal staff, delivering governance advice, and overseeing Land Charges and Information Governance. This role offers a competitive salary, a balanced mix of strategic and hands-on work, and flexible hybrid working options, including the possibility of a condensed work week.
Up to £61,425 per year
Option for five-days-in-four condensed week
This is a senior legal leadership role for an experienced Local Authority lawyer who enjoys managing people, advising at a high level and helping services make sound decisions.
You will lead a small in-house legal team delivering advice across a broad range of council activity. The role suits someone who is already supervising or managing lawyers, whether in a contentious or non-contentious setting, and who is open to taking on oversight of Land Charges and Information Governance as part of a wider management brief. You will have overall responsibility for a team of seven, including Senior Legal Officers, Paralegals and specialist officers covering Land Charges and Information Governance. The emphasis here is on legal leadership, judgement and the ability to run a service. Support and development will be available around Information Governance where needed. You will:
