Role overview:
As part of this role, you'll be responsible for:
- Providing advice on legal matters for the UK and Ireland business providing a commercial, efficient, effective and professional service including the following areas:
- Leading day to day on the review, drafting and negotiation of the less complex contracts and projects. This includes:
- Playing a leading and proactive role within the Currys negotiating team
- Takes ‘ownership’ of the project for the legal team, advising on strategic and structural issues as well as handling legal risk and drafting
- Escalating key issues for resolution
- Managing the approvals process
- Supporting the more senior lawyers in LGR in the negotiation of more complex contracts and projects
- Working independently on all other levels of contracts and projects
- Advising on other areas of law including competition, IP and data protection
- Advising (in collaboration with the more senior lawyers) on contentious dispute/settlement discussions
- Regulatory issues
- Supporting process improvement within LGR
- Anticipating legal change, developing good practice and advising accordingly (in conjunction with the more senior lawyers)
Engaging with cross-functional project teamsWorking with external counsel and other advisors to facilitate the work of CurrysBuild and maintain strong business relationships with stakeholders throughout Currys including in commercial functions, procurement, Finance etc.Support in the setting up of suppliers and the settlement of invoicesYou will need:- Excellent commercial and/or corporate lawyer with appropriate range and depth of experience
- Able to support on multiple projects and transactions
- Strong communication skills
- Good understanding of the retail and consumer electronics industries - Desirable
- To have worked in-house and/or at a major law firm - Desirable
- Qualified Solicitor or Barrister - Desirable
