TEAM

A leading healthcare organization in Exeter is seeking an experienced Technical Consultant to enhance its Infrastructure Services. In this role, you will handle patching of both on-prem and cloud infrastructure, work on vulnerability management, and assist with data quality initiatives. Ideal candidates will have strong technical skills and relevant certifications. This position offers a competitive salary and benefits, in a supportive and collaborative environment.
The purpose of Infrastructure services is to ensure our services and systems are hosted effectively, securely and efficiently. The function of Infrastructure services brings all network and hosting infrastructure into a single team which will provide a multi-skilled 24/7 Infra Operations team organised by function and focused on supporting continual improvement.
The post of Technical Consultant has been awarded a Recruitment and Retention Premia (RRP) in response to current labour market conditions. In recognition of this, the role attracts an additional monthly RRP payment equal to 13% per annum.
The Technical Consultant band 7 will work closely with the Technical Operations Manager (Vulnerability and Risk Management) to reduce the overall risk and threat landscape of the NHS England Infrastructure Services estate.
The Vulnerability and Patch Management team is a sub‑team, embedded within the Infrastructure Services pillar, working closely with the IT Operations team. The team is positioned in the front and centre of a cyber exposure programme, which generates many opportunities to develop skills and experiences to support this programme of work.
Our work supports the NHS to deliver high quality services for patients and best value for taxpayers.
Our staff bring expertise across hundreds of specialisms — including clinical, operational, commissioning, technology, data science, cyber security, software engineering, education and commercial — enabling us to design and deliver high-quality NHS services.
Earlier this year, the Government announced that NHS England will gradually merge with the Department of Health and Social Care, leading to full integration. The aim is to create a smaller, more strategic centre that reduces duplication and eliminates waste.
If successful at interview, we will initiate an Inter Authority Transfer (IAT) via the Electronic Staff Record (ESR). This retrieves key data from your current or previous NHS employer to support onboarding, including competency status, Continuous Service Dates (CSD) and annual leave entitlement. You may opt out at any stage of the recruitment process.
