Job description

Fulham FC Foundation are currently seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and committed person to take up the position of School Sports Manager.

The post holder will be responsible for leading the management and growth of our schools-based portfolio of programmes across South West London. These include breakfast clubs, curriculum PPA sessions, lunchtime clubs and afterschool clubs, which take place in nurseries, primary schools and secondary schools, both in the classroom and on the playground. The post holder will also play a leading role in supporting the management and delivery of our Premier League Primary Stars programme, funded by the Premier League Charitable Fund.

The successful candidate will be somebody who has prior experience working within educational settings, and who is passionate about inspiring and supporting young people to engage and thrive, both physically and mentally, whilst at school.

Much of the role will involve building relationships with the Senior Leaders of schools that we deliver in to ensure that service excellence standards are maintained, and that tangible learning and impact is facilitated for the thousands of children we engage with on a weekly basis.

In addition, a large focus of the role will involve growing and developing our network of school partners and stakeholders to achieve financial and engagement related targets.

Position Purpose

Reporting directly to our Senior Education Manager, the School Sports Manager is responsible for the management and development of an engaging and comprehensive School Sports Programme. This role involves overseeing the delivery of Physical Education (PE) and classroom based activities in nursery, primary and secondary school settings to promote physical activity, teamwork, and personal development among participants. This is a 40 hour a week role where flexibility is essential, as the role necessitates involvement in supporting the delivery of programme activities as and when required. Generally the hours will be as follows, but there will be occasions when evening and weekend work is required.

Mondays: 08:00-16:30

Tuesdays: 08:00-16:30

Wednesdays: 08:00-16:30

Thursdays: 08:00-16:30

Fridays: 08:00-16:30

Salary range: £32,000-£35,000

Experience

  • FA First Aid and Safeguarding qualifications (or willingness to work towards).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Powerpoint & Excel.

  • Highly organised - this is a busy role where balancing priorities and meeting deadlines is crucial to success.
  • Ability to communicate with a diverse range of people (pupils, coaches, teachers, senior school staff) in small or large groups.

Preferred
Experience
  • Delivering PE and/or classroom based activities within schools.
  • Working as a teacher, HLTA, teaching assistant or Sports Coach in a primary school.
  • Working for a Football Clubs official charity, or another sports based charity.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities
  • Ensure that more young people than ever before have the opportunity to benefit from Fulham FC Foundations diverse range of school based activities and initiatives.
  • Administer future developments of Fulham FC Foundations education offerings, ensuring that they are impactful and inclusive.
  • Financial management of the school sports department including compiling and reporting against budgets.
  • Oversee the production and management of all contracts and SLA’s to guarantee clarity of service responsibilities and associated finances.
  • Recruit, line manage and develop our schools-based delivery workforce to maximise staff satisfaction and performance levels.
  • Support the day-to-day timetabling and staffing of both contracted and non-contracted deliverers to ensure quality and efficiencies.
  • Communicate regularly with schools and other educational institutions, to ensure strong collaborative relationships are forged and maintained.
  • Work with internal colleagues to ensure educational resources are up to date, accessible and fit for purpose.
  • Manage, oversee and support the organisation and delivery of various local and national festivals and tournaments.
  • Implement monitoring and evaluation processes to assess the effectiveness and impact of programme delivery, and use findings to celebrate successes and inform future planning and decision-making.
  • Provide regular reports on programme outcomes, challenges, and opportunities, and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Have an understanding of new initiatives in the educational landscape, with a view to utilising new technologies or methods which could help to increase the reach and impact of our work.
  • Ensure safeguarding and risk management best practice standards are being adhered to across all activities.
  • Deputise for the Senior Education Manager and represent Fulham FC Foundation at wider forums and groups when required.
  • Be happy occasionally working evenings or weekends during peak delivery times.
