Head of Education & Clinical Practice (Remote Clinical Care)

Welsh Ambulance Services University NHS Trust (WAST) is seeking to appoint a Head of Education & Clinical Practice (Remote Clinical Care) to lead and advance exemplary educational standards in remote care. Reporting to the Deputy Director of Remote Clinical Care, this pivotal role is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of patient care through educational leadership, shaping and influencing the strategic vision for remote healthcare delivery across Wales.

Applicants should demonstrate substantial experience in higher education or senior leadership of educational initiatives within healthcare environments. Evidence of a proven ability to design, deliver and implement strategic educational programmes is required, alongside a commitment to service transformation. The role requires strong leadership and management skills, including financial oversight and resource allocation. The ability to work closely with and influence senior leaders, external stakeholders, and partner organisations is vital. The appointed individual will play a key role in advancing workforce capability and enhancing patient outcomes in remote and digital healthcare contexts.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate experience in leading digital innovation within educational settings and experience in advancing simulation-based learning, telehealth initiatives and evidence-based educational approaches is highly desirable.

Main duties of the job

Provide strategic educational leadership for all aspects of the Trust's remote/non-face-to-face services, collaborating with health and care system partners, Higher Education Institutions, HEIW, professional bodies, and UK ambulance networks to enhance educational provision for patients entering the system.

Lead and influence the educational direction for remote clinical assessment and decision-making, interpreting best practice, national policy, and legislation, and implementing effective educational solutions.

Oversee the professional development of clinical and non-registered roles, ensuring continuous growth through advanced clinical practice, educational leadership, career frameworks, research, and innovation.

Have responsibility for the financial leadership and management of the Education and Development team for remote care, including budget oversight and resource allocation.

Build and maintain strong strategic partnerships with Higher Education Institutions, HEIW, professional bodies, and UK ambulance networks to drive collaborative innovation, curriculum development, and best practice sharing in remote clinical care education.

Champion research-driven improvements and foster a culture of digital competence, ensuring that remote and digital healthcare education remains at the forefront of best practice.

Play a key role in advancing workforce capability and enhancing patient outcomes in remote and digital healthcare contexts.
