Job summary
A leading insurance recruitment firm in Manchester is seeking an experienced Underwriter to provide high-standard underwriting services to brokers. The ideal candidate should have over 5 years of experience in underwriting, specifically within the Commercial insurance and Motor trade sectors. Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills are essential for maintaining relationships and achieving targets. This role offers a conducive work environment to enhance professional expertise.
Qualifications
- Ideally you will hold experience in the Commercial insurance industry.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in underwriting.
- 2 years of experience working within Motor trade risks.
Responsibilities
- Service existing business, working towards retention and rate targets.
- Enhance company presence nationally by establishing relationships with brokers.
- Conduct regular case reviews to ensure compliance with technical standards.
Skills
To achieve income and profit objectives through the delivery of a high standard underwriting service to brokers in the network.
- Service existing business, working towards retention, loss ratio and rate targets
- Enhance the company presence nationally by establishing firm relationships with broking partners
- Handle referral cases above the authority levels of Underwriters, Trainee Underwriters and Apprentices
- Conduct regular case reviews to ensure that technical procedures and standards are followed
- Work collaboratively with other parts of the company
- Display strong negotiation skills that aide conversion and relationships with brokers
- Maintain and enhance personal knowledge of relevant technical topics
- Ideally you will hold experience in the Commercial insurance industry
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in underwriting
- 2 years of experience working within Motor trade risks
- Pricing of risk accordingly
- Ability to negotiate flexibly and appropriately
- Consistent achievement of goals
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Work in a structured and organised manner
