We’re looking for a Climate Change Manager to join our Food Sustainability team. You’ll be working with suppliers and teams across the business to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions across our entire supply chain. We’ll look to you to ensure we have the correct information about our supply chain, and to help support internal teams to deliver our sustainability promises.

This role is a great opportunity to become an expert in climate action in the food and retail sector, and to take ownership of an important part of our strategy. In this role you’ll directly impact and help us reach our ambition to halve food system emissions by 2030.

Responsibilities
  • Meet and visit suppliers online and in person to drive and evidence Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions reduction
  • Work with experts across our business to build relationships, collect insight and support action to reduce emissions
  • Become a trusted expert on Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions for Co-op and our international food supply chain, including supporting our annual Scope 3 disclosure.
  • Equip teams across our business with the data, insight and tools they need to help meet our sustainability targets
  • Clearly articulate our priorities, targets, and climate action to a variety of internal and external audiences
  • Support our wider team with projects and campaigns on varied Ethics and Sustainability topics
Qualifications
  • The ability to build effective working relationships with both internal and external partners
  • Experience and ability in supplier relationship management, particularly around climate or sustainability objectives
  • Practical experience of product carbon footprinting, supply chain greenhouse gas emissions, and related challenges
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly explain technical topics to non-technical audiences
  • Up-to-date knowledge of greenhouse gas accounting methodologies, climate policy, standards, and food sector priorities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions
Why Co-op?

If you have the skills that we need, we can offer you a competitive salary and great benefits package which includes 30% off Co-op branded products in our food stores (as well as other discounts on Co-op products and services).

  • An annual bonus (based on personal and business performance)
  • 28 days holiday (rising to 32 with service) plus bank holidays
  • A pension with up to 10% employer contributions
  • Access to a subsidised onsite gym (at our Manchester HQ)
  • Coaching and training to support your career development
  • Wagestream app – giving you access to a percentage of your pay as you earn
