Overview

Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 plus bonus and benefits. Location: Newcastle (Hybrid).

PURPOSE OF ROLE

Lawes Consulting Group are partnering with a well-established and very well-respected Newcastle based Insurance Broker who is seeking an SME Account Executive to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a commercially minded, sales focused individual to join the business, drive growth and benefit from a highly competitive commission structure that can significantly increase your yearly earning potential. Working in a desk-based Account Executive position, this position is focused on working with small to medium sized businesses providing effective insurance solutions and a high level of client support and advice.

This is a business that has built a strong market reputation over a number of years and is renowned for providing their people with a supportive working environment and the structure to develop and achieve their full potential.

Responsibilities
  • Providing insurance solutions to a range of SME commercial clients, ensuring high levels of compliance and client satisfaction.
  • Identifying cross-selling and upselling opportunities.
  • Developing new business through networking, referrals, and proactive prospecting.
  • Understanding clients’ needs and providing tailored insurance solutions.
  • Working closely with Account Handlers, Insurers, and other internal teams to deliver exceptional service.
  • Staying up to date with market trends, insurer appetite, and regulatory requirements.
Day-to-day
  • Work proactively on maintaining pipeline and converting new business leads.
  • Negotiate terms with insurers to secure the best outcomes for clients.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on CRM and policy systems.
  • Ensure FCA compliance in all client interactions and documentation.
Experience
  • Proven experience in a commercial insurance role.
  • Strong knowledge of UK commercial insurance products.
  • Confident communicator with excellent client-facing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Cert CII qualification desirable (or willingness to work toward it).
  • A proactive, driven, and customer-first mindset.
