Job Title: Senior Test Analyst

Contract Type: Permanent

Location: Edinburgh

Working style: Hybrid 50% home/office based

Overview

The Senior Test Analyst is responsible for the creation of test cases via in-depth technical analysis of both functional and non-functional specifications (such as reliability, efficiency, usability, maintainability and portability). Senior Test Analysts create traceability records, from test cases back to requirements, and produce automated and manual test scripts, materials and regression test packs to test new and amended software or services. Senior Test Analysts specify requirements for environment, data, resources and tools. Interprets, executes and documents complex test scripts using agreed methods and standards. Records and analyses actions and results and maintains a defect register using available tooling. Reviews test results and modify tests if necessary. Provides reports on progress, anomalies, risks and issues associated with the overall project. Reports on system quality and collects metrics on test cases. Provides specialist advice to support others. Reviews requirements and specifications and defines test conditions. The Senior Test Analyst mentors Test Analysts and Trainee Test Analysts.

About the Role

We're looking for a skilled tester with a strong focus on automation to lead the planning, design, and execution of tests across the software lifecycle. You'll:

  • Drive automation using tools like Playwright, WebdriverIO, and Azure DevOps to test APIs and UIs.
  • Design and maintain reusable automated test scripts and regression packs.
  • Analyse functional and non-functional requirements to define test needs.
  • Lead early lifecycle validation, test planning, and execution.
  • Monitor test progress, report results, and ensure traceability.
  • Guide and mentor junior testers, deputising for the Test Lead when needed.
About You

You bring strong experience in:

  • Test automation (Playwright, WebdriverIO, Cucumber, Azure DevOps, CI/CD).
  • Programming/scripting (C#, Java, JavaScript, PowerShell).
  • STLC, SDLC, Agile, BDD, TDD.
  • Functional, regression, integration, security, accessibility, and cross-browser/device testing.
  • Using database technologies (MS SQL, T-SQL) to manage test data.

You're detail-oriented, proactive, and collaborative, with a passion for quality and continuous improvement. You know how to influence automation strategy and adapt to changing requirements.
