Our team (NALO – Noise, Air Quality, Lighting and Odour) of 30+ multidisciplinary environmental consultants conducts surveys, assessments, and provides advice on a wide range of situations, from small planning applications to acting as expert witnesses at hearings and inquiries. We utilize innovative computer-based modelling techniques to predict noise, air quality, wind, odour, lighting, or daylight/sunlight levels and assess acoustic performance. Our clients include UK MoD, Sainsbury’s, Amazon (projects in UK, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Poland & Egypt), as well as local authorities and various transportation, retail, housing, and commercial developers.

Our NALO services include:

• Air quality
• Environmental noise and vibration, including assessment and mitigation measures for buildings, highways, mining, and blasting scenarios
• Building acoustics
• Occupational noise and hygiene
• Environmental lighting
• Daylight, sunlight & overshadowing
• Odour

As part of the air quality team, you will work on projects involving surveys, modelling, and assessments to evaluate air quality impacts from new developments, industrial emissions, and odour sources. Projects range from small-scale to major infrastructure, focusing on protecting existing environments, future schemes, and sensitive ecological species. The role involves modelling traffic pollution, industrial emissions, and odour impacts, with some environmental surveys requiring overnight stays and occasional weekend work.

We are hiring an Air Quality Consultant at Senior or Principal level, depending on experience. The role includes reviewing team assessments for quality assurance, project management, and line management responsibilities. The candidate should be committed to mentoring team members and pursuing professional development.

Our team is distributed across the UK with flexible working arrangements; however, the role requires working in the office at least twice a week in Leicester, Manchester, Leeds, or London.

• Degree qualified or equivalent, with proven experience in air quality consultancy
• Experience with ADMS Roads modelling software
• Experience with AERMOD (preferred but not essential)
• Experience with GIS (preferred but not essential)
• Project management experience
• Line management experience (preferred but not essential)
• Experience in peer reviews for quality assurance
• Experience working directly with clients and external organizations
• Good geospatial interpretation skills
• Flexibility to work within tight timescales
• Ability to operate technical equipment in the field independently
• Full manual UK driving license
