To be accountable for the twenty four hour care delivery and management of the ward, including the supervision of students.

To provide a clear focus for clinical leadership and be responsible for ensuring the provision of a high standard of holistic, patient-centred care

To be accountable for co-ordinating patient care, the management of resources and performance of staff

To be responsible and accountable for the Finance and Human Resources issues directly related to the ward

To be responsible and accountable for the implementation of Audit, Quality and Risk Management initiatives

To promote and participate in the implementation of the ASPH Nursing & Midwifery strategy and objectives

To maintain a visible presence in the ward, undertaking clinical work as per roster agreement

To work in conjunction with the Matron / Senior ward team / Practice Educator & Learning Development Teams / Specialist teams

Work in close conjunction with Matron / Senior Divisional Leadership team / Practice Educators/ Learning & Development Team

Acts as a role model and resource, providing information and promoting high standards of patient care, whilst working closely with other professionals.

Monitors and maintains acceptable standards of care in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team.

Participates and assists with adult medical emergencies utilising Immediate Life Support skills and experience where necessary. Takes an active role in the management of clinical emergencies within the clinical area.

Ensures appropriate communication and referrals occur in relation to the early intervention of the acutely ill or deteriorating patient to facilitate implementation of care.

• oSignificant experience of working in a Band 6 position
• oEvidence of managing complex trauma and orthopaedic patients
• oRelevant clinical course
• oCompletion of Trauma Network Competency
• oRecognised Leadership Course
• oRecognised Management Course

• oDemonstrable clinical and managerial experience in a senior position
• oProven track record of leadership
• oEvidence of clinical competence and regular clinical practice
• oExperience in leading Quality Improvement initiatives
