Job overview

This post will provide specialist oversight for clinical development, quality and safety across a locality. The role will form a constituent part of the tripartite between the Operational, Clinical and Education Leadership Teams.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for leading and managing all first line locality issues related to the quality and effectiveness of clinical practice within the operational environment at East of England Ambulance Service (EEAST).

The post holder will be the key source of local expertise and knowledge relating to clinical practice.

Furthermore, ensuring capability and capacity of local clinical supervision. Supporting assurance of delivery of statutory / mandatory compliance, local (clinical) return to work processes and transition to practice.

The post demands innovative leadership qualities to develop and nurture the next generation of clinicians within a challenging climate and foster a culture of Continuous Professional Development within the current generations, plus the responsibility for ensuring alignment to the Trust vision and values through fostering a culture of compassion, learning, engagement, and tailored clinical support and expertise.

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge and extensive demonstrable experience of relevant field which equates to a BSc (Hons) in Paramedic Science, or equivalent, or other higher educational qualifications with substantial applied experience in a related discipline.
  • HCPC Registration, or equivalent NMC Registration, and outside of any preceptorship period.
  • Significant experience of successfully operating in a politically sensitive environment.
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development.
  • Level 5 or 6 Mentoring / Practice Education Qualification and applied demonstrable experience.
  • Demonstrable post registration (and post preceptorship) experience as a Senior Paramedic / Ambulance Nurse within an operational clinical environment.
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering a safe, quality, and effective educational provision for learners and clinicians within complex systems and across multiple academic pathways.
  • Experience of managing risks and reporting.
  • Demonstrable experience of delivery of teaching, training, supervision or education within the clinical / medical / healthcare environment.
  • Recognised Quality Assurance Qualification (ie IQA, EQA), or previous relevant demonstrable experience of related mechanisms within the Clinical, Driving, AOC, or Commercial Training domains.
  • Understanding of the Public Sector.
