Qualifications

Location: Middlesbrough Treatment and Intervention Team – Parkside Mental Health Resource Centre, Middlesbrough. Working hours 09:00-17:00 Monday‑Friday.
This role involves supporting the multidisciplinary team in delivering community‑based mental health care, improving the lives of people with complex mental health disorders, and promoting recovery and wellbeing.

- Maintain safety, privacy and dignity of all patients, respecting cultural and spiritual beliefs.
- Recognise signs of patient harm, abuse or neglect and follow safeguarding policies.
- Undertake delegated activities within own competency, including risk assessment and intervention plan implementation.
- Complete patient assessment tools and document accurately in care records.
- Identify changes in patients' presentation and report appropriately.
- Accompany and support patients in various community settings, as delegated and according to risk assessment.
- Provide health education and advice on health promotion to patients and carers.
- Act as an advocate for patients/carers and promote a positive image of people with mental ill‑health.
- Diploma in Health and Social Care Level 2 or equivalent.
- Achievement of Trust’s Healthcare Assistant competencies within the first 6 months.
- Previous experience as a Band 2/3 Healthcare Assistant or equivalent.
- Experience working with people with mental/social health needs or learning disabilities.
- Effective verbal and written communication.
- Competency in record keeping and time management.
- Ability to prioritise tasks.
- Competence in venepuncture and ECGs.
- Person‑centred care and awareness of legal frameworks, including Mental Health legislation.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Competency in record keeping.

Required clearance: DBS check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
