Overview
Purpose of role: As a member of the Health, Safety, Security, Environment & Wellbeing (HSSEW) team, you will play a pivotal role in the delivery of our Safety First training plan to achieve our Safety First strategy. You will lead and shape how Safety First learning is designed, delivered and embedded to drive change aligned to our behaviours. You will equip individuals and teams with the skills, mindsets and capabilities required to make Safety First personal at The Crown Estate. You will work closely with colleagues across HSSEW and our Learning and Development team to ensure we achieve targets.
Responsibilities
- Safety First Programme Delivery
- Champion a Safety First learning culture across the enterprise, influencing senior stakeholders and integrating capability building into business priorities
- Develop, lead and deliver the Safety First training plan, ensuring it delivers desired behavioural change and builds skills
- Risk-Based Training & Programme Management
- Apply a risk-based approach to identifying and prioritising training needs, prioritise and align with broader business initiatives
- Oversee programme management of all training activities, ensuring alignment across HSSEW and the wider enterprise
- Training Design, Delivery & Quality
- Identify training needs and ensure delivery through internal teams or external providers
- Ensure training is tailored, future-focused, and quality assured to meet internal and external standards
- Deliver internal training/briefings
- Governance, Compliance & Reporting
- Maintain training governance structures and transparent reporting mechanisms
- Ensure compliance with HSSEW policies, ISO standards, and health, safety, and environmental regulations
- Manage the training budget process and reporting with our Finance partner
- Systems, Records & Digital Enablement
- Maintain accurate training records and systems, including a comprehensive training matrix
- Support digital strategies for training delivery, data capture, and integration of digital/meta skills
- Insight, Improvement & Technical Support
- Conduct trend analysis to drive continuous improvement
- Provide technical advice and identify gaps in training capability, capacity, and delivery
- Collaboration & Flexibility
- Collaborate with People and Culture team and other teams to consolidate training efforts
- Provide support across the HSSEW team and deliver ad-hoc projects as needed

Qualifications
- Proven experience in embedding a Safety First learning culture
- Experience in driving change through learning
- Excellent communication, influencing and engagement skills
- Familiarity with learning systems and change management principles
- Strong knowledge of training needs analysis
- Strong organisational and project management skills with the ability to prioritise and solve problems effectively
- Up-to-date knowledge of Safety First legislation and trends and ability to integrate best practice into all activities
- Strong analytical skills and experience in data-driven evaluation of learning impact
- Experienced in managing others - delivering through others internally and/or externally
- Effective vendor and partnership management
- Experience in completing training needs assessments
- Experience in designing, delivering and sustaining Safety training
- NEBOSH or equivalent H&S training is preferred
- PTTLS or equivalent training qualification or willingness to achieve
