An opportunity has arisen for a General Manager for our Maternity and Gynaecology Business Unit, within Women's & Children's Division. The General Manager will work as part of the triumvirate management team, working closely with the Matron and Clinical Director as well as providing visible and effective leadership for their Business Unit.

The General Manager will also be required to support the Divisional Director and Deputy Divisional Director in directing, guiding, and leading in the overall management of the business unit, including developing strategic plans and performance management frameworks to ensure delivery of all key activity and financial targets. A key dimension will be to ensure engagement of clinical managers in the complex management agenda and the development of capacity and capability to deliver both local and national priorities. The right candidates will have extensive NHS operational management experience and will be comfortable working with and leading multidisciplinary teams to redesign and develop services whilst ensuring delivery of performance and quality.

At UHDB around 9,000 babies are born across our two sites each year at Royal Derby Hospital (RDH) and Queens Hospital Burton (QHB). We provide antenatal and postnatal care for 11,500 women each year and, at RDH, we offer an alongside birth centre. We support women through low and high-risk care pathways, and some specialty pathways like diabetes and cardiology.

Details of UHDB sites: We have three wards across two sites, with a total of 88 beds for antenatal, postnatal and induction of labour.

• 17 delivery rooms including one pool room and bereavement suite at Royal Derby Hospital.
• Four bedded Midwife led birth centre at Royal Derby Hospital.
• Four bedded Obstetric Enhanced Care area and a two bedded assessment bay at Royal Derby Hospital.
• Seven delivery rooms including one pool room and one bereavement suite at Queens Hospital Burton.

Samuel Johnson Community Hospital is currently a community midwifery hub.

• Significant experience working in a senior management position
• Experience of leading and directing senior clinical and non clinical teams

• Degree or equivalent knowledge gained through experience or professional qualification
• Professional management qualifications or equivalent

• Financial management and business management skills

• Experience and knowledge of the current NHS challenges
• Maternity and Gynaecology knowledge
