Cold Store Operative / Supervisor / Manager

Newry area

Our client is a well-established and growing food manufacturing business based in the Newry area. Due to continued investment and growth, they are seeking an experienced Cold Store Operative/Supervisor/Manager to take ownership of cold store operations and stock control within a fast-paced FMCG environment.

This role would suit either a strong hands‑on operative ready to step up, or an experienced cold store professional looking for a stable, well‑run operation with scope to influence how things are done.

Your day to day

Reporting into site management, the successful candidate will have responsibility for the day‑to‑day operation of the cold store, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency at all times.

  • Accurate building and dispatch of orders in line with customer requirements
  • Strict adherence to FIFO stock rotation principles
  • Daily stock control and reconciliation of cold store inventory
  • Completion of monthly stock takes and variance investigation
  • Intake of raw materials in accordance with technical and quality procedures
  • Operation of forklifts, including reach truck
  • Maintaining high standards of Health & Safety within cold store and loading bay areas
  • Supporting continuous improvement across stock handling and storage processes
Your essential ingredients

I am keen to speak with candidates who can demonstrate:

  • Proven experience working within a cold store or warehouse environment
  • Strong understanding of stock control and inventory accuracy
  • Forklift licence (counterbalance essential; reach truck highly desirable)
  • Experience working in food manufacturing or FMCG environments
  • A good working knowledge of Health & Safety requirements in cold stores and loading bays
  • Strong attention to detail and a disciplined, methodical approach
Desirable Skills - even better if you have these however not a deal breaker:
  • Experience using Microsoft Dynamics or similar ERP systems
  • A forward‑thinking mindset with an interest in using technology to improve efficiency and accuracy
  • Previous supervisory or lead‑hand experience (advantageous but not essential)
