Overview

The Clinical Office Administrator will provide comprehensive administrative support to the Haematology Clinical Team. The post holder will organise workload with Haematology Consultants and coordinate with Clinical Office Coordinators to ensure an efficient service. Duties include general office tasks, liaising with patients, GPs and hospital staff, handling enquiries by letter, fax, e-mail and telephone, obtaining patient notes, filing, photocopying, sorting post, and duties within the Haematology Day Unit. Confidentiality and initiative are essential.

Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Haematology Clinical Team.
  • Organise workload with Haematology Consultants and coordinate with Clinical Office Coordinators.
  • Carry out general office duties: filing, photocopying, sorting post, obtaining patient notes, liaising with patients, GPs and hospital staff, handling enquiries by letter/fax/e-mail/telephone.
  • Ensure an efficient service and contribute to the organisation of work.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times and exercise initiative appropriate to the role.
  • Support duties within the Haematology Day Unit.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Excellent clerical and typing skills.
  • Effective communication with patients and staff.
  • Knowledge of the Cerner system is desirable but not essential.
