In this pivotal freelance role, you will ensure operational activities and documentation align with national occupational health and safety regulations ( e.g., OSHA, INRS, HSE, DGUV, etc. depending on country). This opportunity is ideal for a regulatory safety professional passionate about analyzing real-world practices, identifying compliance gaps, and recommending clear, actionable improvements.

Engagement Type : Freelance / Contract (Hourly, 1099 or C2C)

Location : Remote( within UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Poland and Egypt ) — based in-country (specific address / location TBD); requires travel to client worksites

Hours : Variable, on-demand (no set weekly guarantee)

Start Date : ASAP

Compensation : Based on experience

Language Requirement : Fluent in English and local language

Responsibilities

  • Review and edit safety procedures : Analyze current safety policies and procedures to confirm alignment with local legal requirements; update or draft new procedures as needed.
  • Onsite safety audits : Conduct in-person visits to worksites throughout your country (locations provided in advance), observe work in progress, and perform thorough audit activities.
  • Interview contractors and teams : Meet with site personnel and contractors to validate procedural effectiveness and uncover opportunities for improvement.
  • Identify regulatory gaps : Compare real-life practices and documentation to legal requirements; cite specific country regulations (OSHA equivalent) for any deficiencies.
  • Recommend improvements : Prepare clear, step-by-step recommendations—with reference to regulations—to close identified safety performance and compliance gaps.
  • Executive-level safety reporting : Draft succinct, comprehensive reports summarizing findings, regulatory references, and prioritized next steps suitable for senior leadership audiences.
  • Digital documentation : Capture audit notes, photos, and findings using mobile device applications, ensuring accurate and efficient field reporting; submit deliverables electronically.

Requirements

  • Deep, current expertise in your country’s occupational health and safety legislation and enforcement (e.g., country-specific OSHA or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated experience conducting workplace safety audits and / or drafting and updating safety procedures.
  • Familiarity with varied industries (such as construction, manufacturing, energy, utilities, or similar high-risk fields).
  • Strong interviewing and communication skills to interface with diverse contractor teams and management.
  • Advanced proficiency with mobile device apps (iOS / Android) for field data entry, plus Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Ability to synthesize detailed findings into clear, concise reports for executive review, with regulatory citations.
  • Flexible schedule to enable site visits and requirements as needed—hours will fluctuate month-to-month.
  • Ability to work independently, meeting tight deadlines and remote coordination requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing compliance for multinational or global organizations.
  • Prior involvement in executive-level reporting or regulatory inspections.
