JOB DESCRIPTION

Field Storage Engineer and Lustre Developer

Main tasks of the role include but are not limited to:

The Field Storage Engineer & Developer is a “hybrid” role with an equal time distribution of:

System Engineering for the Field:

Install, optimize DDN’s High-Performance Storage “EXAScaler” solutions (powered by Lustre File System) for Prospects and Customers in France, and possibly Europe and Middle-East when required.

Train Partner and End-User on the EXAScaler Solution that has been deployed.

Benchmark the said EXAScaler Storage Solution with industry-standard HPC I/O tools such as FIO, IOR, IOZONE, MDT and across the Cluster of HPC / Ai CPU-GPU Compute Nodes.

Troubleshoot, when necessary, I/O errors at the file level and at the block level.

The applicant will be interacting with several DDN Departments like Presales, Global Education, L1/L2 Support and Storage / Parallel File System Subject Matter Experts based in the Field.

The applicant will also engage End-User and when necessary, Partners and Industry Representatives (such as Servers Manufacturers, GPU Vendors, etc.).

Applicants will receive technical training from DDN Storage experts.

File System development for one specific large HPC Customer

For this section of the work, the applicant's will be in direct contact with The Client’s administration team.

The role here will be to understand, troubleshoot and provide technical support for the various Lustre filesystems in production at The Client premises.

The applicant will also be required to channel technical feedback and user stories between The Client and DDN to improve the products (hardware and software).

This will require the applicant to dive into the Lustre filesystem, an industry standard parallel filesystem developed by Whamcloud (a division of the DDN group).

Whamcloud, a DDN Division, is always releasing Lustre software patches into the Master Branch. The applicant will back-port select patches into The Client’s Lustre distribution.

Over time, once fluent with back-porting Lustre patches, the applicant will contribute to Whamcloud & The Client Lustre code development efforts for new features or bug fixes.

De l’Ingénieur en stockage et développeur Lustre

Principales responsabilités de ce rôle:

Le poste d'ingénieur et développeur de stockage est un poste « hybride » avec une répartition horaire égale entre :

Administration système/stockage chez le client :

Installer et optimiser les solutions de stockage haute performance « EXAScaler » de DDN (basées sur Lustre) pour les prospects et clients en France, et éventuellement en Europe et au MoyenOrient si nécessaire.

Former le partenaire et l’utilisateur final sur la solution EXAScaler qui a été déployée.

Evaluer la solution de stockage EXAScaler avec les outils d'E/S HPC standards tels que FIO, IOR, IOZONE, MDTest sur l'ensemble d'un cluster de noeuds de calcul HPC / Ai CPUGPU.

Analyser, si nécessaire, les dysfonctionnements au niveau fichier et/ou au niveau bloc.

Le candidat interagira avec plusieurs départements de DDN tels que des ingénieurs en avant-́vente, de l'équipe globale mondiale, du support L1/L2 et spécialisés sur les systèmes de fichiers parallèles des clients finaux.

Le candidat interagira également avec l'utilisateur final et, si nécessaire, avec les partenaires et constructeurs de matériel (tels que les fabricants de serveurs, les fournisseurs de GPU, etc.).

Le candidat recevra une formation technique dispensée par des experts de DDN Storage.

Développement au sein d'un système de fichiers pour un client HPC de grande taille – Le client :

Pour cette partie du travail, le candidat sera en contact direct avec l'équipe technique du client.

Le rôle ici sera de comprendre, dépanner et fournir un support technique pour les différents systèmes de fichiers Lustre en production dans les locaux du client.

Le candidat sera également amené à capitaliser/ synthétiser des faits techniques dont l'objectif sera d'établir un lien fort entre le Client et DDN pour améliorer les produits (matériels et logiciels).

Cela obligera le candidat à étudier en détail le système de fichiers Lustre , développé par Whamcloud (une division du groupe DDN).

Whamcloud, publie en permanence des correctifs logiciels Lustre dans la branche principale. Le candidat devra "rétroporter" certains correctifs dans la distribution Lustre du client.

Au fil du temps, une fois la maı̂trise des correctifs Lustre atteinte, le candidat contribuera aux efforts de développement du code Whamcloud et de celui du client pour de nouvelles fonctionnalités ou des corrections de bogues.

Suivre et respecter légalement les instructions et directives de la Société DataDirect Networks Inc. et de toute autre entité du Groupe.
