A state housing development authority is seeking a Human Resources Technician to manage employee records and assist with payroll and HR activities. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma and experience in human resources. This role may allow for hybrid remote work, although weekly onsite work is required. Candidates must comply with employment conditions such as background checks and drug tests.

This position serves as a Human Resources Technician within the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA), Office of Human Resources – Payroll and Transactions. The incumbent is responsible for providing technical support by ensuring the accurate processing and maintenance of employee records, as well as delivering guidance to employees and managers in areas such as onboarding, payroll, compensation, and other human resource activities. Key responsibilities include maintaining personnel files, supporting payroll processes, assisting with classification and selection activities, and contributing to employee engagement initiatives. In addition, this position is responsible for interpreting and applying MSHDA policies, Civil Service Rules and Regulations, and collective bargaining agreements as they relate to timekeeping and related HR matters.

Note: The following substitutions may apply for experience requirements: for Technician 7, completion of two years of college may be substituted; for Technician 8, a Bachelor’s degree may be substituted; for Technician E9, a Bachelor’s degree and one year of HR-related experience may be substituted.

Based on operational needs, hybrid remote work and alternate work schedule requests for this position may be considered. Please note that weekly onsite work will be required. Work must be performed in the state of Michigan.
