Position Overview

We are looking for a Software Engineer who has passion to work on Robot Vision and Driving Calibrations as well as other control components for Robotic Surgical devices to join a team that is working to solve some of the hardest problems in medicine today.

The position requires good python or C++ development skills, experience in a Linux environment, and the ability to work closely with other software engineers as well as multi-functionally.

The successful candidate is self-motivated, curious, and has the desire to bring the latest software technologies into the medical world.

You will be responsible for

• Design, implement, and test software solutions for sophisticated problems.
• Create specifications and requirements based on clinical and user feedback.
• Develop calibration applications in an FDA regulated environment.
• Be active in design discussions and code reviews.
• Integrate, test and debug software solutions.
• Lead by example and educate multi-functional teams on modern practices.

Qualifications / Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related degree
• Bachelor's degree with 2 years of software development experience (or 0-2 with M.S.)
• Software development experience in a mixed language environment in Python or C++ 17.
• Multi-threaded programming experience
• Object Oriented design experience

Preferences

• Master's degree in Computer Science or related degree
• Knowledge of visualization frameworks such as QT or PyQT
• Robotic control experience
• Ability to conceptualize software tools based on customer needs gathering
• Familiarity with common design patterns
• AI or automation knowledge
• Experience building data access and visualization tools
• Instrumentation software experience
• Programming under Linux experience
• Enjoy working in the lab

Other Requirements

• Ability to travel up to 10% domestic US and Internationally, including potential overnight stays.
• Ability to work onsite at the J & J office in Santa Clara, CA.

For the California Bay Area, the anticipated base pay range for this position is $103,000 to $165,600.

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs.

Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan.

The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation's performance over a calendar / performance year.

Bonuses are awarded at the Company's discretion on an individual basis.

Employees and / or eligible dependents may be eligible to participate in the following Company sponsored employee benefit programs: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, business accident insurance, and group legal insurance.

Employees may be eligible to participate in the Company's consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)).

This position is eligible to participate in the Company's long-term incentive program.
