A leading research institution in Düsseldorf is inviting applications for a PhD position in Molecular Infection Biology. The successful candidate will have an M.Sc. in Biochemistry, Biology, or a related area, along with research experience in protein biochemistry and cell biology. Key responsibilities include conducting impactful research and supervising students. The employment is initially limited to three years. This is a qualification position within the meaning of the Science Temporary Contract Act (WissZeitVG), which serves to promote the scientific qualification of the employee (doctorate).
The newly founded Institute of Molecular Pathogenicity conducts research in the field of Molecular Infection Biology. We aim to understand how defense proteins of the innate immune system detect and combat bacterial pathogens, and how these pathogens evade immune responses. To fundamentally understand these host–pathogen interactions, we use an interdisciplinary approach combining molecular biology, microbiology, cell biology, immunology, biophysics, and biochemistry. The lab language is English.
