A higher education institution in Germany is seeking a Campus Police Officer responsible for patrolling the campus, enforcing laws, and ensuring safety. The ideal candidate will have strong human relations skills and at least one year of law enforcement experience. This role involves writing reports, providing traffic assistance, and dealing with critical situations effectively. Preference will be shown to those with Florida Law Enforcement certification and relevant law enforcement experience. Competitive benefits and training provided.
The Campus Police Officer reports directly to a Campus Police Sergeant. This position patrols campus buildings and grounds while enforcing law, rules, and regulations on campus. The Campus Police Officer provides escort services on campus, relieves or substitutes for Campus Police Dispatchers, and locks and unlock doors. Provides general information; public relations; traffic assistance (directs traffic, attends to traffic crashes, assists with parking problems); writes thorough and complete reports on investigations, complaints, student conduct violations, and security issues using proper grammar and logical sentence construction. Performs security and safety duties at off-campus facilities that are owned, operated, or utilized by the College and also:
MINIMUM TRAINING/EXPERIENCE: Requires graduation from a standard high school or equivalency diploma and one year of law enforcement experience. Must meet the requirements of Chapter 943, Florida Statute. Two years of active and continuous military or other appropriate public contact experience may substitute for the required experience. Appropriate college course work or vocational training may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis at the rate of 30 semester hours from an accredited college or university, or 720 classroom hours from a vocational or technical school. Preference will be given to applicants with Florida Law Enforcement certification and one year of law enforcement experience.

Knowledge of State of Florida Statutes and relevant local ordinances. Knowledge of evidence processing. Knowledge of laws of arrest, search & seizure. Knowledge of security principles. Knowledge of building locking and alarm systems. Knowledge of campus scheduling of classes and hours of operation. Knowledge of general college and departmental information. Ability to demonstrate excellent human relations skills and abilities. Ability to work in dangerous and stressful situations. Ability to probe and obtain critical facts. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Ability to demonstrate effective interviewing skills and abilities. Ability to apply laws, rules, regulations, and policies to situations using appropriate judgment. Ability to deal with individuals and critical situations in an effective manner. Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to follow written and oral instructions. Ability to work independently. Ability to demonstrate critical thinking/judgment and reasoning skills. Ability to prepare reports that are clear, concise, and grammatically correct. Ability to perform first aid and CPR with professional level certification. Ability to perform duties outdoors in all types of weather. Ability to stand for long periods of time. Ability to maintain excellent physical condition, walk, run, bend, stoop, and climb stairs. Ability to operate dispatch system (CAD). Ability to demonstrate excellent computer skills. Ability to sit for long periods of time. Ability to arrest individuals. Ability to demonstrate safe vehicle operations skills and abilities.
