This initiative is built on a supported employment foundation that promotes the recruitment, employment, and retention of people experiencing disability. The initiative provides and celebrates in‑person and virtual mentoring experiences, networking and learning events, social media campaigns, as well as building a body of evidence through research activities. With a specific focus on facilitating unique, short‑term (from 1 hour to 1 day) mentoring opportunities between employers and people experiencing a disability, this initiative is part of a national effort to promote the employment of Canadians experiencing disability.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Facilitate regular check‑ins, workshops, and orientation sessions for mentors and clients.
  • Ensure accommodations and accessibility needs are met.
  • Troubleshoot issues and provide problem‑solving support as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of mentorship matches, participant outcomes, and employer involvement.
  • Collect required forms, consent documents, and feedback surveys.
  • Prepare reports for internal use and funder requirements.
  • Represent MentorAbility Canada at local events, job fairs, and community forums.
  • Assist in marketing efforts, including social media content, newsletters, and outreach materials.
  • Promote disability inclusion awareness within the community.
Qualifications and Competencies
  • Post‑secondary education in Social Services, Human Resources, Disability Studies, Career Development, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Ability to respectfully work with diverse stakeholders in an inclusive manner.
