Position - Physical Digital Human Experience Designer

Role description:

We are seeking an innovative and creative Physical Digital Human Experience Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conceptualizing and designing integrated physical and digital interactions across a variety of built environments. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including clients, architects, technologists, and developers, to craft user-centered solutions that elevate the overall experience of interior and exterior spaces.

Role accountabilities:

• Lead the ideation, conceptual design, and implementation of user-centered experiences that integrate physical and digital touchpoints across built environments that enhance human interactions with the environment, accessibility, usability, and emotional engagement
• Develop strategies for incorporating technology (e.g., smart devices, IoT, audio-visual solutions, digital-enabled systems, user engagement platforms, etc.) into physical spaces, ensuring a cohesive and intuitive user experience
• Partner with Stakeholders and work with cross-functioning teams to define and implement digital layers, such as immersive audio-visual solutions, mobile apps, smart building systems, AR/VR elements, or interactive kiosks
• Create prototypes, wireframes, or visualizations for proposed experiences, using tools such as Sketch, Figma, Adobe XD, or similar design platforms
• Create immersive visualizations (models and vignettes) for proposed experiences through the use of gaming engines such as Unreal, Unity, and other 3D modeling design tools
• Conducted meetings to gather feedback and iterate on designs, ensuring they met both functional and emotional KPIs. As a result of those meetings, present prototypes and final designs to internal teams, clients, and stakeholders for validation and approval
• Work closely with architects, interior designers, UX/UI designers, engineering, and technology teams to align the vision, implementation, and integration of digital systems within physical spaces
• Communicate and presentation of design concepts and experience strategies to both technical and non-technical stakeholders effectively
  
  

Qualifications & Experience:

• 5+ years of experience working on complex experience design with a focus on integrating physical and digital experiences in built environments. Experience in all phases of the project process from conception to implementation
• Knowledge of accessibility standards, human factors, gamification, and ergonomics in built environments
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Design, Industrial Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Architecture, Interior Design or a related field
• Proven expertise in UX/UI design, service design, and human-centered design and gamification methodologies
• Strong knowledge of emerging technologies, including IoT, smart building systems, AR/VR, gaming engines (e.g. Unreal), and other digital platforms
• Proficiency in design tools such as Sketch, Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and prototyping software
• Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to work with a range of personalities from stakeholders to internal teams

The salary range for this position is $89,600 to $134,400. The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.
