As Senior Manager Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI), you will build on a solid foundation and lead initiatives that support a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace for all OTPP employees. This role focuses on improving employee engagement through DEI strategies and talent-focused partnerships, fostering a culture where everyone feels valued and supported.
Who you'll work with
Reporting to the Director of Talent Acquisition, you will join our Talent team (part of broader People & Culture) during an exciting transformation supporting our Teachers Forward enterprise strategy. As a key leader with organization-wide reach, you will collaborate and serve as a strategic advisor and subject matter expert to various internal and external partners. You will partner with Employee Resource Group (ERG) Leads and all employees to amplify our commitment and operationalize our DEI strategies and programs.
What you'll do
- Manage ERGs and partner with global senior leadership to lead the DEI Council, shaping and executing inclusive strategies aligned with the enterprise DEI strategy and talent priorities (e.g., Women in Investments, Accessibility).
- Support ERGs by managing mandates, governance, interactions with business leads, budgets, succession planning, and event initiatives.
- Plan and manage DEI-related spending within the broader Talent budget.
- Lead organization and execution of large-scale events for organizational days of significance (e.g., Pride, International Women's Day, Black History Month, National Day for Truth and Reconciliation) in partnership with ERGs and marketing teams.
- Support operationalization of Indigenous Action Plan (IAP).
- Develop and deliver DEI education strategies in collaboration with leadership development teams.
- Influence, coach, and develop DEI capabilities in leaders across the organization, building accountability within communities.
- Identify opportunities for DEI differentiation and gaps, supporting the development and launch of relevant strategies and initiatives.
- Collaborate with internal teams to embed DEI into talent programs, including inclusive hiring and training sessions.
- Act as a brand ambassador, promoting an inclusive culture through authentic communication and training, and engaging in external speaking and partnerships.
- Support DEI reporting efforts (e.g., workforce demographics, annual reports, risk assessments) and participate in external talent partnerships.
- Manage DEI and ERG intranet pages, produce newsletters, and oversee digital content related to DEI initiatives.
- Provide guidance and support on DEI issues to employees and management.
- Support strategic enterprise programs and priorities as needed.
What you'll need
- A passion for equity, inclusion, and diversity, with a solid understanding of financial services talent challenges.
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in Human Resources or Human Capital Consulting, with a proven track record in developing and implementing successful DEI initiatives, including anti-racism training.
- Experience leading significant multi-year DEI change initiatives in a global organization.
- Bachelor's degree (required); formal DEI education and training preferred.
- Strong understanding of DEI principles, best practices, and legal requirements.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to analyze data and generate insights to drive DEI initiatives.
- A DEI champion who embodies our values (Inclusive, Performance-driven, Courageous, Agile, Curious) and can influence positive change.
- Ability to build trust through effective listening, openness, and transparency.
- Comfort with asking difficult questions, accepting feedback, and demonstrating perseverance.
- Willingness to travel as required.
