POSTION SUMMARY:

Vanderlande is the global market leader in baggage handling systems for airports and sorting systems for parcel and postal services. Vanderlande has recently built a large advanced automated warehouse for one of the largest retailers in the world in Canada.

You will play a pivotal role in our support of this state-of-the-art warehouse. You will work closely with various teams to ensure efficient on-time preventive maintenance and swift troubleshooting when incidents arise.

The ideal candidate for this position has a strong understanding of warehouse operations, is comfortable with high-tech systems and automation, and is committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety and efficiency.

Essential Functions (Job Duties and Responsibilities):
  • Technician I will be relied upon for troubleshooting support for non-routine problems in the material handling system.
  • Solving complex errors in an ACP system
  • Responsible for the maintenance and troubleshooting of mechanical components such as: motors, motor-gearbox assemblies, rollers, bearings, shafts, sprockets
  • Responsible for the maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical control components such as; photo eyes, motor starters, relays, limit switches, proximity sensors, solenoids, encoders, variable frequency drives
  • Communicate with various parties on the work performed and present status of specialty systems
  • Interpret engineering drawings in reference to layout, location, and operation of the system
  • Execution of preventive maintenance (both electrical and mechanical)
  • Reporting of executed maintenance activities
  • Analysis of system errors
  • Replacements of machine spare parts
  • Reporting of problems and maintenance activities that need attention
  • Attending to call outs, faults, alarms, and warnings and monitor system from the Control Room
  • Compliance with all Vanderlande programs, policies, and procedures
  • Perform other duties / assignments that might be occasionally required by the management
Required Education and Experience:
  • Experience of supporting automated systems with a proficient level of electro- mechanical skills
  • Electrical fault-finding and fault-rectification skills, including the replacement and configuration of field devices (inverters, sensors, scanners etc.)
  • Mechanical fault-finding and fault-rectification skills (gearboxes / bearings / sprockets / drives etc.)
  • Experience with electrical schematics / wiring diagrams
  • Skilled in the use of standard electrical test instruments
  • Relevant vocational and / or technical qualifications
Other Requirements:
  • Valid Driver license
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Warehouse Operations experience
  • Conveyor services or material handling services experience
Knowledge-Skills-Abilities (Competencies)
  • Working knowledge of mechanical and electrical (motors, electrical circuits, SICK ATR systems, and other material handling equipment) and controls (Siemens) systems
  • Ability to read diagrams, electrical drawings, operation manuals and manufacturers specifications
  • Knowledge of use of hand tools, precision measuring and testing instruments
  • Flexibility with time, able to shift priorities quickly based on staff and system needs
  • Team player with strong verbal and written communication skills

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

Full time position; 24/7 operation

this is a rotating shift position that includes both days and nights

This position requires no travel.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate (transmit, convey, receive) information. The specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee is frequently required to climb, reach, sit, and access confined spaces that require kneeling, crawling, and other positions that require physical maneuvering. The employee is constantly required to move and lift objects (stacks of totes/ trays, tools, equipment, parts, etc.) of up to 50lbs; bend/twist; stoop; stand; walk; push-pull. The employee is occasionally required to carry and transfer up to between 50 and 120lbs.

The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is sometimes exposed to the material handling systems, mechanical parts, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. The Service Technician will encounter mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic equipment. Ear protection should be worn.

Salary range:

This is a full-time, nonexempt position, eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. The salary range listed represents the maximum and minimum starting base pay for this position as of the time of posting. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.

Salary range for this position is CAD$80,000 to CAD$85,000
