Here's the opportunity: Business Development Manager, Black entrepreneurs

The Business Development Manager for Black entrepreneurs will promote Futurpreneur's financing and mentoring programs for young Black entrepreneurs and partners. You will foster strong partnerships, resulting in new client engagement and loan portfolio growth across your region.

This is a permanent full-time position, located at our satellite office in Edmonton, Alberta. The role involves hybrid work (minimum 1 day in-office) and frequent travel within the region, including remote areas.

What you will do :

Business Development - Entrepreneurs

• Convert leads from inquiry to application
• Follow up on high-potential prospects via our CRM
• Attend and coordinate events for Black entrepreneurs
• Facilitate presentations and workshops on programs and entrepreneurial skills
• Assist other regions and programs as needed
• Collaborate with Client Relationship Managers for a smooth transition to funding
• Create lead opportunities and collaborate with partners

Business Development - Mentors

• Engage prospective Black mentors at events
• Manage inquiries about mentoring programs
• Coordinate with CRM to fulfill mentor needs
• Recruit and encourage Black mentors to register with Futurpreneur
• Organize events for mentor recruitment

Business Development - Strategic & Referral Partners

• Maintain regular contact with partners
• Foster relationships to bring Black entrepreneurs to loan approval
• Onboard and train new partners
• Follow-up to ensure partners have necessary tools
• Grow the partner network where appropriate
• Participate in community engagement activities
• Research and identify potential new partners

What you will have :

• Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle (40% travel)
• Relevant education or experience in business, economic development, or entrepreneurship
• 3+ years in sales, business development, or economic development
• Experience with entrepreneurs, business plans, or cashflows is a strong asset
• Bilingual in French and English is an asset
• Public speaking and workshop delivery skills
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Proficiency with MS-365 and CRM systems
• Client-focused, proactive, and self-motivated
• Ability to work independently and in teams
• Strong network, entrepreneurial mindset, and lived experience with Black entrepreneurs
• Knowledge of industry trends
• Administrative skills including budgeting and report writing
• Alignment with Futurpreneur's values and mission
• Positive role model and ambassador for the organization
