Transitional Services for New York, Inc., a not-for-profit organization, is a comprehensive, community-based mental health provider located in New York City. TSINY is seeking part-time Maintenance Workers for residential and outpatient positions in the New York City area (Queens & Bronx).

Compensation: $20.90 per hour

Requirements: Must have a valid driver’s license

Position Summary

Responsible for performing diverse duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain facilities and equipment, ensuring safety and adherence to maintenance systems to support the sites' goals and objectives.

Essential Functions

• Plan daily schedules with supervisor.
• Clean all bathrooms.
• Sweep and mop floors.
• Empty garbage cans and take out trash.
• Prepare cleaning materials for weekends.
• Pick up staff payroll bi-weekly.
• Schedule employee evaluations with supervisor.
• Drive staff for shopping, appointments, medication pickup, and recreational activities.
• Order and collect supplies.
• Check residence boilers, hot water, and heating systems.
• Prepare rooms for new residents.
• Replace lighting and perform minor repairs (sinks, showers, toilets, fixtures, windows, doors).
• Maintain residence vehicles.
• Shovel snow and perform minor plastering and painting.
• Assist with other maintenance and driving needs as required.
• Stand or sit as needed, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Walk on level surfaces for short periods, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Reach above shoulder heights, below waist, or lift as necessary, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Maintain a valid driver’s license.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Experience, Education, Skills, and Abilities

High school diploma or equivalent and relevant experience. Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. A valid New York State driver’s license and safe driving record are required.
