Job summary
A leading financial institution in Toronto is seeking a Legal Advisor with a JD degree and at least five years of experience. The role involves managing litigation matters and providing legal advice on contract negotiations, regulatory changes, and more. Ideal candidates will demonstrate outstanding organizational skills and the ability to handle complex legal matters independently.
Qualifications
- Minimum of five years of post-admission legal practicing experience required.
- Knowledge of complex financial products and services essential.
- Candidates must pass conflicts of interest clearance review.
Responsibilities
- Manage litigation and enforcement matters.
- Advise on contract negotiation and documentation.
- Interpret laws and regulations; advise on changes.

Education
- Managing actual and potential litigation and enforcement matters, including internal reviews and investigations related to such matters
- Advising on products and services, including contract negotiation and documentation
- Advising on offering and marketing documents and new business initiatives
- Managing dispute resolution
- Interpreting existing laws, rules, and regulations and advising on changes thereto
- Advising on advocacy in connection with contemplated and proposed laws, rules, and regulations
- Providing legal advice to the Board of Directors, the business, and functions. Legal selects, engages, and manages outside counsel for the Firm on all matters in which outside counsel is engaged.
- A minimum of five years of post-admission legal practicing experience
- JD degree
- Knowledge of, and experience with, complex financial products and services
- Ability to assume significant independent responsibility immediately
- Outstanding organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple complex matters simultaneously
