Overview

Seeking an associate lawyer with experience in criminal law.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will support our busy criminal practice by assisting with bail hearings, guilty pleas and the conduct of preliminary inquiries and trials on behalf of our clients. Courtroom advocacy is critical to success in this role and legal research and written advocacy skills are strong supporting skills.

Location

The successful candidate will need to be able to commute to downtown St. Catharines on a daily basis where our office and the main regional courthouse are located.

Qualifications
  • 1-2 years or more of Canadian criminal law experience including conducting bail hearings, guilty pleas and trials
  • Licensed to practice law in Ontario by the Law Society of Ontario

  • Knowledge of criminal law and procedure including knowledge of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and its application to criminal proceedings.

Compensation
  • Compensation to be determined based on level of experience and other qualifications of the successful applicant.
Salary
  • $85,000.00-$130,000.00 per year
