A prominent health care provider is seeking an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse for the Operating Room in Grande Prairie, Alberta. The ideal candidate will hold a CLPNA registration, possess a specialty in Perioperative Nursing and have proficiency in critical thinking and patient care. This full-time position offers competitive pay ranging from $33.75 to $44.23 per hour, alongside a Remote Retention Allowance. We are looking for experienced Operating Room Technicians or experienced surgical LPNs willing to attend the Perioperative Course who thrive in environments where each day is something different and your skillsets are constantly evolving. With a new regional hospital commissioning to open, we are excited to be expanding services within urology, orthopedics, ENT, general surgery, gynecology and ophthalmology, with the addition of bariatric and oncoplastic to support Grande Prairie Cancer Centre. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
CLPNA authorized Specialty in Perioperative Nursing required. Preference will be given to candidates with CLPNA authorized Specialty in Perioperative Nursing. If no candidates with CLPNA authorized Specialty in Perioperative Nursing, consideration will be given to candidates who do not possess all of the posted Operating Room Technician qualifications. In that case, hiring preference will be given to candidates (internal then external) enrolled in the Perioperative course followed by those with 2 years acute care surgical nursing experience in the last 5 years willing to take the Perioperative course. Successful candidates supported to attend the Peri-Operative course will be required to agree to a return service commitment within the unit of 12 calendar months for internal applicants and 24 months for external candidates. Ability to work evenings, weekends and on-call and arrive at the hospital within 20 minutes when called back to work. Ability to handle heavy or awkward items (lifting, transferring, carrying), and withstand considerable walking or standing. Ability to be physically confined to an area due to job demands. Ability to maintain confidentiality of all patient information and health records. Ability to adhere to nursing policy and practice standards. Ability to maintain adherence to CLPNA Code of Ethics.
