Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Stó:lō Service Agency (SSA) requires the services of a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to fill a full-time position with the Stó:lō Elders Lodge (SEL). The LPN practices in accordance with the standards (both professional and practice) and the Code of Ethics set out by the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwifes (BCCNM). Practice is also aligned with the vision, mission, goals, and values of SSA.

This position will provide support to the SEL in an Assisted Living Facility, providing family-centered care in a “Good Way” with respect to cultural safety and practices.

Qualifications/Requirements
  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing.
  • Minimum of three (3) years recent related community nursing experience in the designated clinical area, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience is an asset.
  • Current practicing registration with the BCCNM.
  • Familiarity with Assisted Living Health and Safety Standards.
  • Current Valid First Aid, CPR & AED certification.
  • Completion of the Safe Food Handling Course and WHMIS are an asset.
  • Knowledge of community and available resources and supports.
  • Ability to build and maintain meaningful relationships with families and community resources.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and with minimal supervision.
  • Strong documentation and report writing practices.
  • Experience with mentoring or training staff is an asset.
  • Strong time management, coordination, and ability to adapt.
  • Basic computer and internet skills. (MS Office)
  • Strong ability to champion tenants’ rights of privacy and confidentiality and have a proven ability to handle and store confidential information.
  • Integrity and humility, and a strong desire to represent the agency in a healthy and respectful manner.
  • Ability to follow applicable policy, procedures, codes of ethics and mission statements.
  • Ability to accept individual uniqueness and respect diversity: ancestry, race, ethnicity, language, religions, marital status, gender, sexual orientation, age, abilities, and social‑economic status.
  • Physically able to perform the duties of the position.
  • Knowledge and appreciation of working in service of Truth and Reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples and communities.
Additional Interview Requirements
  • Proof of education documentation and current Registration.
  • Professional references: Names and email addresses of two references.
  • Must hold and maintain a valid Class 5 BC Drivers’ License.
  • Must successfully pass Criminal Records Check.
  • Ability to work occasional evening and weekends.
Wage Range

Starting at $34.00 per hour, based on education and experience.

Type of Positions

Full‑time Position, with benefits, subject to 3‑month probationary period and planned performance evaluations.
