What You Can Expect
As a Licensing and Education Officer, you’ll play an important role in supporting the integrity and accountability of Ontario’s bereavement sector. You’ll coordinate licensing activities for new and renewing professionals, and guide applicants through the regulatory landscape to help them meet all legislative requirements. Beyond licensing, you’ll oversee education and examination programs like managing internships, administering exams, and tracking competencies in order to ensure those entering the profession are fully prepared. Through clear communication, precise processing, and timely support, you’ll play a vital role in upholding high professional standards and fostering fair, consistent access to licensure and practice across the province. Reporting to the Manager, Licensing and Education, your strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and problem-solving skills will support consistent standards and contribute to public trust in the sector. The ideal candidate will bring clear communication, critical thinking, and a commitment to fair, thorough decision-making.

About the BAO
The Bereavement Authority of Ontario (BAO) is a government delegated authority and not-for-profit corporation administering provisions of theFuneral, Burial and Cremation Services Act, 2002(FBCSA).Accountable to the Minister of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement and the government, the BAO is responsible for the protection of the public interest.
