As a Regulated Health Professional under the Regulated Health Professions Act, Pharmacy Technicians will provide services within their scope of practice in collaboration with and under the guidance of Registered Pharmacists.

• Perform all aspects of Pharmacy Technician tasks as defined in the NAPRA Standards Practice for Pharmacy Technician practice from the Ontario College of Pharmacists.
• Understand and operate Meditech and Kroll Pharmacy software, Omnicell XT, OCRA, PacMed, and all systems supporting dispensing and distribution functions.
• Participate in the distribution process and pharmacy support responsibilities.
• Engage in medication reconciliation activities.
• Package and deliver pharmaceutical products to patient care units or other facilities as needed, which may involve lifting boxes weighing 1-20 lbs.
• Prepare and package products for shipment as required.
• Communicate performance and quality standards expectations to team members.
• Ensure proper documentation and flow of prescription distribution at all times.
• Implement and communicate quality controls to pharmacy teams and facility partners, especially if quality concerns arise.
• Utilize strong communication skills and multi-task effectively.
• Follow procedures and guidelines based on pharmacy standards and regulatory requirements.
• Complete daily duties accurately and timely.
• Maintain compliance with safety practices, policies, and procedures to ensure staff and patient safety.
• Create a work environment aligned with the Royal’s Harassment-Free Workplace policy.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Must be registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP).
• Previous hospital experience is preferred.
• Proficient in pharmaceutical calculations.
• Familiar with common healthcare terminology.
• Professional, honest, and dependable attitude.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
• Attention to detail.
• Customer service orientation.
• Knowledge of pharmacy law, ethics, conduct, privacy, and liability issues.
• Must complete standard training upon hire (pharmacy systems, technology, etc.).
• Basic inventory management skills related to storage, security, and legal issues.
• English language proficiency at level A- in comprehension, expression, reading, and writing; bilingual skills in French/English are assets.
