WHAT’S THE JOB?

Based in Waterloo, ON, we are looking for an experienced and passionate Chef Manager to oversee the day-to-day operation of the food services.

As a Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily kitchen operations, including ordering, managing inventory and budgets, menu planning, staff training, and ensuring health and safety standards are met according to Dana Hospitality guidelines. You will work closely with the client and Food Service Director to ensure the highest quality of food and service for our students and guests.

Your work will include:

• Preparing fresh, scratch-made menus for guests
• Leading in the training, development, and mentoring of employees
• Developing programming to create a "WOW" factor and leading in the segment
• Ensuring all foods are prepared using FOODSAFE and HACCP methods, following Dana Hospitality guidelines
• Serving clients and staff in a personable and professional manner
• Applying knowledge of dietary restrictions, allergies, vegan, and vegetarian options in meal planning and preparation
• Conducting weekly inventory checks

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

• Food Safe certifications (Basic, Advanced), First Aid, Red Seal preferred or similar work experience
• 5+ years of experience in the hospitality or food service industry
• 3+ years of cooking experience with knowledge of international and domestic cuisines
• Proficiency with computer programs such as Microsoft Excel, Word, GFS, Outlook
• Extensive knowledge of menu costing and inventory management
• Strong time management skills
• Excellent practical and theoretical knowledge of kitchen operations including hot kitchens, cold kitchens, pastry/bakery, butchery, and catering
• Effective leadership style, positive personality, and strong listening skills
• Values of accountability, respect, health and safety, and trust
• A desire for continued growth and innovation, with the ability to bring new ideas and programming to enhance engagement and excitement
