We are seeking a motivated and talented individual to advance their career in Routing, MPLS, and next-generation networking. In this role, you will:

• Develop advanced routing and service features in Routing, BGP, IS-IS, MPLS, and Segment Routing (SR-MPLS, SRv6).

• Design, implement, validate, and document software components to deliver high-quality, carrier-grade networking products.

• Integrate solutions with enabling technologies including third-party software and hardware platforms.

• Troubleshoot and resolve complex routing protocol and services issues by diagnosing root causes, debugging, and delivering robust, timely fixes.

• Continuously grow expertise in areas such as Segment Routing (SR-MPLS, SRv6), MPLS, IS-IS, TiLFA, EVPN, Ethernet services, IPv4/IPv6 protocols, and other transport protocols.

You will join a highly skilled and collaborative team playing an influential role in advancing next-generation IP/MPLS routing capabilities. The environment emphasizes:

• Collaboration with peers across system design, development, and integration teams.

• Impactful contributions toward routing for Service Providers modernizing and unifying their networks.

The Ciena Packet Control Plane team is at the forefront of enhancing Routing and MPLS capabilities to seize worldwide market opportunities. As Service Providers transition to unified networks, this role directly contributes to:

• Delivering routing solutions for Service Provider deployments.

• Strengthening customer-proven capabilities in scalability, reliability, and service delivery.

• Driving innovation in next-generation carrier-class networking.

• Proven software development experience with advanced networking systems.

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Experience in product design and delivery of routers and/or MPLS switches for Service Provider environments (preferred).

• Knowledge of IP routing protocols (ISIS, BGP), MPLS, and Segment Routing (SR-MPLS, SRv6).

• Strong programming skills in C and Python — this is an absolute must.

• Exposure to other transport protocols.

• Familiarity with product cycles, deployment requirements, and carrier-class environments.

Pay Range:

This role offers a salary range of $69,400 - $110,800 CAD.

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.

Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
