• Ability to coach, lead, and mentor.
• Coordinate and collaborate with all pharmacy staff in drug distribution to ensure appropriate, accurate, timely, seamless, and efficient flow of medication from procurement through to dispensing and subsequent administration.
• Identify, prioritize, and initiate or collaborate in continuous quality improvement initiatives related to the Ontario College of Pharmacists Inspection Criteria for Hospital Pharmacy and Accreditation Canada, including development and review of department processes and procedures in line with accepted standards and regulations.
• Participate in achieving the goals set out in the Corporate Strategic Plan.
• Uphold the Standards of Practice as set out by the Ontario College of Pharmacists, NAPRA, and the Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists.
• Engage in committee work, project work, policy and process development or review, and research activities.
• Support medication management activities such as medication reconciliation, medication safety, medication reviews, interdisciplinary team rounds, and resolution of drug-related problems; participate in decision-making on treatments, medication distribution, and education.
• Teach and mentor students and other learners.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals, patient care units, and stakeholders to optimize patient care.
• Disseminate drug information.
• Initiate or collaborate in drug formulary maintenance reviews.
• Provide flexibility in delivering pharmaceutical care across all clinical program areas within the organization.
• This position includes day shift services and rotational on-call duties during evenings and weekends.
• Work in accordance with staff and patient safety policies and procedures at The Royal.

• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Pharmacy.

• Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy, entry-level PharmD, or Advanced Practice degree from a recognized university or equivalent training as determined by the Ontario College of Pharmacists.
• Completion of a hospital residency or post-baccalaureate in PharmD is an asset.
• Registration and good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists.
• Experience or familiarity with CPOE, BMV, eMedRec, eMAR, and EMR systems is considered an asset.
• Experience working with Meditech clinical software applications.
• Experience in medication reconciliation processes.
• Knowledge of modern hospital care and drug therapy.
• Experience or familiarity with pharmaceutical research in healthcare settings.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in English (oral and written) is mandatory; bilingual (French/English) skills are an asset.
