The Weeneebayko Area Health Authority (WAHA) is seeking an experienced leader to fill the key role of Director of Minomathasowin Harm Reduction and Data Partnerships.

What We Do

There has never been a more exciting time to be at WAHA. We are an integrated health system providing the full continuum of care to the six communities of the western James Bay coast with over 500 employees physicians and partners in care. What Youll Do
  • Provides direction to the Minomathasowin Healthy Living department the Indigenous Harm Reduction Department the Senior Analyst for Evaluation Research & Engagement the Mamow Ahyamowen data partnership and other external collaborative projects
  • Engages in performance appraisals with the department manager and assists with staff performance appraisals
  • Works towards regional implementation of WAHA's public health model
  • Directs the development of work plans to support population health Indigenous harm reduction and evaluation initiatives
  • To ensure that projects / initiatives are responsive to the unique needs of the region and are culturally relevant
  • Plans and monitors budgets invoicing and service agreements for all public and population health initiatives including the Indigenous Harm Reduction Department and the Mamow Ahyamowen partnership
  • Represents WAHA on working groups task forces and shared initiatives related to health promotion harm reduction and Indigenous-led evaluation
  • Connects with community / health leadership frontline workers health care providers and other pertinent workers in the region including those involved in harm reduction and research
  • Communicates project outcomes to James and Hudson Bay communities including findings from Minomathasowin Indigenous Harm Reduction and evaluation initiatives
What You Bring
  • Masters Degree in a health-related field with a specialization in Public Health or Health Administration
  • Certification in project management
  • 2 years experience managing staff is preferred
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities
  • Member of Canadian Public Health Association / Ontario Public Health Association regulated health body
  • Valid G Drivers License
  • Ability to communicate in the local native Cree language is an asset
