Director, Pharmacy Services – St. Joseph's Health Care London

Reporting to the Vice President, Patient Care and Chief Nurse Executive, the Director of Pharmacy Services is accountable for providing a strategic vision and administrative leadership for a full range of pharmaceutical services (inclusive of hospital and ambulatory care, long term care and retail services). Using well developed strategic leadership, management, and interpersonal skills, the Director is responsible for organizing all aspects of Pharmacy operations in delivering patient-centered care, strong and efficient clinical services programs, education and research within an environment of patient and medication safety.

The position responsibilities include but are not limited to strategic planning; medication use management; quality actions and performance improvements; drug use system management utilizing informatics and technology; supply chain management; delivering consistent, safe and compassionate high quality patient care that aligns with best practices.

The Director, Pharmacy Services also acts as the Designated Manager as per Drug and Pharmacies Regulation Act (DPRA). Is accountable for the Ontario College of Pharmacy (OCP) Standards, and for safe use of medication and medication systems in the hospital and pharmacies. Essential Qualifications
  • Master's Degree (in pharmacy, science, health care administration or business administration)
  • Valid registration and in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists as a Part A Pharmacist
  • 5 to 7 years of progressive management experience is desirable, with at least 5 years of hospital pharmacy leadership experience
  • Leadership and management experience including strategic and operational planning, performance, project and change management, and education and research activities
  • Progressive leadership in pharmacy and clinical care hospital setting, including multi-site service delivery
  • Demonstrated leadership in administrative and fiscal planning, risk management and health and safety and operational decision-making including balance multiple and competing priorities
  • Strong ability to develop collegial partnerships and stakeholder relations, collaboration and team development
  • Knowledge of a Safety Culture in a Health Care Setting in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA)
  • Ability and commitment to act as a supervisor under OHSA
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and develop staff
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and principles of management
  • Advanced interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
  • Models values-based leadership behavior with personal accountability and credibility
