Based at the Detour Lake Mine site, we currently have an exciting opportunity for aOpen Pit Electrical Technicianto join our Mobile Maintenance team reporting to the Mine Maintenance Electrical Supervisor.

Detour Lake is the largest gold producing mine in Canada with the largest gold reserves and substantial growth potential.The open pit mine is located in northeastern Ontario, approximately 300 kilometres northeast of Timmins and 185 kilometres by road northeast of Cochrane, within the northernmost Abitibi Greenstone Belt. The mine is situated in the area of the historic Detour Lake open pit/underground mine operated by Placer Dome which produced 1.8 million ounces of gold from 1983 to 1999. The Detour Lake operation has a mine life of approximately 22 years with an average gold production of 659,000 ounces per year.

TheOpen Pit Electrical Technicianwill be responsible for the maintenance and repair of electric rope shovels, hydraulic excavators and rotary drills, while ensuring compliance with all safety and regulatory procedures.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Understanding of motor control logic and MCC (600V), DC motor control (static drive) and AC drives;
• Basic instrumentation troubleshooting (temperature sensor, pressure sensor and tachometer);
• Understanding of PLC logic and providing troubleshooting activities as required;
• Maintain equipment rated for 24 volt to 13.8KV;
• Use of various tools such as: voltmeter, megger and ampere meter;
• Ensure that safety issues are reported to the supervisor and promptly remedied;
• Promote a positive health, safety and environment culture and the Internal Responsibility System.

Our ideal candidate has:

• Electro-Dynamic / Industrial Technician Certificate;
• Minimum of two years practical work experience within the mining sector;
• High voltage transformer and switchgear experience is preferred;
• Ability to work and be exposed to the elements (Working at heights, outdoor working environment);
• Experience working at a remote work site is considered an asset;
• Good work ethic and strong attitude towards safety.
