Job summary
A leading healthcare provider in Canada is seeking a licensed Practical Nurse to provide comprehensive nursing care in a fast-paced environment, specializing in geriatrics. Responsibilities include administering medications, monitoring patients, and providing support in pre-operative and post-operative care. Candidates must be eligible for licensure and hold a CPR and First Aid Certificate. Health benefits are included.

Responsibilities
- Administer medications and monitor patients' progress.
- Conduct specimen collection and provide pre-operative/post-operative care.
- Ensure infection control and monitor nutritional intake.

Education
Languages: English
Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years
Experience: Experience an asset
On site: Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely.

- Administer medications
- Apply aseptic techniques including sterile dressing
- Conduct specimen collection
- Ensure infection control
- Monitor nutritional intake
- Observe and record medication’s therapeutic and side effects
- Record medication’s therapeutic and side effects observations in patient files
- Take vital signs
- Provide technical assistance to surgeons by laying out instruments, setting up equipment, assisting surgical teams with gowns and gloves and passing instruments to surgeons
- Provide pre-operative and post-operative personal and comfort care
- Monitor established respiratory therapy and intravenous therapy
- Provide safety and health education to individuals and their families
- Provide nursing services, within defined scope of practice, to patients based on patient assessment and care planning procedures
- Monitor patients' progress, evaluate effectiveness of nursing interventions and consult with appropriate members of healthcare team
