The Associate Scientist is responsible for execution of experiments in the laboratory to prepare lipid nanoparticle formulations, performing LNP characterization assays and assisting lab management activities.

This position is a maternity leave replacement position for a term of 12 months.

This position reports to the Sr Manager, Delivery and is part of the R&D team located in Vancouver, BC and will be an on-site lab-based role.

What you'll do:

• Routinely formulate lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) encapsulating nucleic acids that meet specifications for in-vitro and in-vivo testing, and support LNP manufacturing processes at small and large scales. Works independently after planning with technical leader/project manager/supervisor.

• Perform, analyze and troubleshoot LNP characterization assays such as DLS, zeta-potential, RiboGreenTM, TNS etc. Perform fluorescence/colorimetric and ELISA based assays. Develops and executes protocols.

• Analyze data, prepare reports, present the major findings/summary in team meetings, participate in trouble shooting, technical reviews and report on project status. Utilize information and insights gathered to plan activities within their domain with frequent alignments with technical team.

Who you are:

• BSc or technical diploma with relevant background in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical sciences or a relevant field.

• Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience in developing LNP formulations and characterizations/assays (DLS, zeta-potential, RiboGreenTM assay, PicoGreenTM assay, gel electrophoresis, ELISA) is critical. Proficiency with biological assays critical for identifying key characteristics or properties of lipid nanoparticles.

• Independent, organized, detailed-oriented with ability to multi-task and succeed in team environment.

The salary range for this role is $70K-$90K CAD. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
