Guided by our vision, we are leveraging the power of our leading edge technology and focusing on the uniqueness of each individual to create the future of health. As a global-leading health and well-being provider – encompassing physical, mental and financial health – TELUS Health is improving health outcomes for consumers, patients, healthcare professionals, employers and employees.

Join our team and what we’ll accomplish together.

TELUS Health Consulting practice brings over 60 years of experience and innovative thought leadership to pension & savings, actuarial, compensation and overall financial well-being consulting and outsourcing. Our purpose is to improve financial outcomes for individuals while managing costs and risks for organizations by leveraging technology and data. We are also one of the largest pension plan administrators in Canada, serving over five million plan participants. We are a diverse organization with unparalleled capabilities for our clients and their people.

The Compensation Consulting practice is composed of a dedicated group of nation-wide professionals with extensive experience in the field of compensation. We specialize in providing strategic guidance and expert analysis to our clients when developing competitive, equitable compensation strategies aligned with their organizational goals. Keeping in mind various stakeholders' interests such as employees, management, board members, and unions, we help organizations attract, retain, and motivate employees while maintaining financial sustainability and legal compliance. With a deep understanding of market trends, we ensure that our clients' compensation strategies are both effective and compliant.

Here’s the impact you’ll make and what we’ll accomplish together

As a Compensation Consultant within our consulting practice, you will bring your leadership and knowledge of compensation trends and practices to provide strategic consulting to our clients. Your understanding of broad-based and executive compensation, total rewards, and pay equity will reinforce the design, review and implementation of compensation programs that support our clients' business and compensation policies. You are an analytical thinker and possess meticulous attention to detail, in addition to your expertise in client management and delivering insights derived from complex data while helping junior team members.

Here’s how

  • Manage mid-complexity projects ensuring timely delivery and adherence to fees.
  • Serve as a primary client contact, conducting client interviews, facilitating focus groups, delivering training, and maintaining ongoing client relationships.
  • Develop and review PowerPoint presentations, Excel exhibits, and initial data conclusions for client reports while working closely with Principals/Leaders to determine client recommendations.
  • Participate in the presentation of recommendations to senior leadership teams and board members as required.
  • Develop new tools and templates for multiple markets.
  • Write project proposals and respond to Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
  • Participate in business development activities such as webinars and presentations.
  • Support junior staff when needed.
  • Support clients from all of the Canadian provinces.

You’re the missing piece of the puzzle...

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in Business, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Human Resources, Actuarial Science or Accounting.
  • 3-5 years in a compensation role; ideally 2 years in a consulting role.
  • Business acumen: having robust market awareness of compensation trends in various industries targeting different employee profiles.
  • Data expertise: aptitude and familiarity with various sources of compensation data, including published surveys.
  • Ability to navigate in diverse client environments.
  • Collaboration and communication skills: being a team member that others actively seek out to partner with, who is clear, concise, and influential in all mediums of communication.
  • Comfort with working in dynamic environments.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and intermediate proficiency in MS Word and PowerPoint.

Great-to-have:

  • Hold or working towards your CPHR/CRHA designation or equivalent.

Additional qualifications:

  • Pay equity experience, understanding nuances of provincial and federal legislation.
  • Project management (leading transformational compensation programs).
  • Change management and creating compensation tools and resources.
  • Bilingual (written and conversational English and French).

A bit about us

We’re a people-focused, customer-first, purpose-driven team who works together every day to innovate and do good. We improve lives through our technology solutions and foster a culture of innovation that empowers team members to solve complex problems and create remarkable human outcomes in a digital world.

TELUS is proud to foster an inclusive culture that embraces diversity. We are committed to fair employment practices and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment. We offer accommodation for applicants with disabilities, as required, during the recruitment process.

Disclaimer: In accordance with the TELUS Health Solutions Data Center Security Policy, as a condition of employment, all team members whose job functions require they work at a Data Center and/or have access to detailed knowledge of technology related to client service delivery, are subject to a Personnel Security Screening conducted through the Government of Canada.

The health and safety of our team, customers and communities is paramount to TELUS. Accordingly, we require anyone joining our TELUS Health Care Centres to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19.

Note for Quebec candidates: if knowledge of English is required for this position, it is because the team member will be asked, on a regular basis, to interact in English with external or internal parties or to use English applications or software as part of their tasks.

By applying to this role, you understand and agree that your information will be shared with the TELUS Group of Companies’ Talent Acquisition team(s) and/or any leader(s) who will be part of the selection process.
