A healthcare facility in Hamilton is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse to provide high-quality nursing care in collaboration with the Registered Nurse. The role involves participating in continued education and improving practice through quality initiatives. Candidates must have a valid registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario and recent experience in acute medicine. Successful applicants will demonstrate effective communication and organizational skills in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Acute Medicine at the Hamilton General Site encompasses 8 West and 8 South which are both Clinical Teaching Units. 8 West provides care to acute adult medical patients as well as alternate level of care patients. 8 South provides care to acute adult medical patients as well as patients requiring a step-down unit level of care and telemetry. The interdisciplinary teams on both units collaborate to provide high quality care for patients with acute medical diagnoses (e.g. myocardial infarction, diabetic ketoacidosis, pneumonia, endocarditis, etc.) and chronic medical diagnoses (e.g. heart failure, COPD, coronary artery disease, etc.) throughout the various stages of their illnesses.
As a member of the healthcare team, the Registered Practical Nurse will provide high quality nursing care to patients in collaboration with the Registered Nurse on both units. The RPN will participate in continued education and completion and maintenance of certifications associated with the identified nursing skills and complete learning plans to achieve these goals. The RPN will participate and support the quality initiatives on the perspective units to continually improve practice.
Schedule Work Hours: Rotating days, nights, weekends, holiday
