Job summary

A manufacturing company in Metro Vancouver is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to set up and operate CNC machine tools. The ideal candidate will have a Machinist Trade Certification and experience in programming and operating CNC machines. Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently are essential. This position offers full-time hours and health benefits.

Overview

Work Term: Permanent

Education: Other trades certificate or diploma

Experience: 3 years to less than 5 years

Computer numerically controlled (CNC) machinist technology / CNC machinist or equivalent experience

Responsibilities
  • Compute dimensions and tolerances of machine parts
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables
  • Set up and adjust production machineries / tools
  • Fit and assemble components and machine parts to close tolerance
  • Maintain, repair and calibrate precision measuring instruments
  • Document and report deviations from specifications and tolerances
  • Maintain inspection records and complete inspection reports
  • Verify dimensions of parts machined using precise measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers)
  • Set up and operate conventional and computer controlled machine tools
  • Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments
  • Enter codes specifying speed, feed and cut of the toolpath for CNC machine tools
  • Program CNC machine tools
