Overview

Responsible for overseeing bar operations, managing staff, ensuring compliance with liquor legislation, and delivering excellent customer service.

Responsibilities
  • Arrange the bar area to make attractive displays.
  • Organize the operations of a cocktail lounge or bar.
  • Clean bar area and wash glassware.
  • Serve food or snacks.
  • Advise on wine selection.
  • Supervise food and beverage servers and other staff.
  • Provide recommendations on drink selections.
  • Train staff.
  • Collect cash, credit/debit card or other payment for beverages.
  • Operate cash register.
  • Record and balance beverage sales.
  • Store beverage and food products.
  • Order bar stock and maintain inventory and control of bar stock.
  • Enforce provincial/territorial liquor legislation and regulations.
  • Prepare mixed drinks, wine, draft or bottled beer and non-alcoholic beverages.
  • Take beverage orders from serving staff or directly from patrons.
  • Resolve conflict situations.
Qualifications
  • Education: College, CEGEP or other non‑university certificate or diploma from a program of 3 months to less than 1 year, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years in a similar role.
  • Certificates: Smart Serve.
  • Criminal record check required.
  • Must be authorized to work in Canada.
