The MEP Draftsman is responsible for preparing detailed Mechanical Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) drawings for construction projects. The role involves collaborating with engineers, architects, and project teams to produce accurate and coordinated drawings that comply with industry standards and project requirements.
Prepare detailed MEP shop drawings, coordination drawings, and as-built drawings.
Develop HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, electrical, and ELV (Extra Low Voltage) system drawings.
Ensure MEP designs comply with local codes, international standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, IEC, etc.), and project specifications.
Modify and update drawings based on engineer feedback, site conditions, and design changes.
Maintain standard layering, file naming conventions, and BIM coordination when applicable.
Work closely with MEP engineers, architects, structural engineers, and civil teams to ensure design accuracy.
Coordinate clash detection between MEP services using Navisworks or Revit.
Assist in resolving design conflicts and discrepancies.
Support the procurement team with material takeoffs (MTOs) and quantity extractions from drawings.
Maintain an organized database of drawings, revisions, and technical records.
Ensure timely submission of drawings for approvals, RFIs, and project documentation.
Prepare schematic, single-line, and detailed design drawings as required.
Follow company CAD/BIM standards, drafting protocols, and document control procedures.
Identify potential design issues, clashes, or inefficiencies and propose solutions.
Ensure all drawings meet client, consultant, and regulatory requirements.
Education: Diploma / Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Drafting Technology.
Experience: Minimum 5-10 years of experience as an MEP Draftsman in the construction industry.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D & 3D), Revit MEP, and Navisworks.
Strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing, fire fighting, and electrical systems.
Knowledge of BIM (Building Information Modeling) and MEP coordination techniques is a plus.
Familiarity with local authority standards (DM, DEWA, SEWA, ADCD, etc.).
