• Must be able to understand the contract, specification and bid package in order to guide the project to its successful completion.
• Define the project team requirements and request appropriate resources for project office set up and must be able to set up strong Project control mechanisms.
• Develop, together with the technical group, an overall build strategy and prepare a detailed project schedule to meet the contract delivery terms and conditions.
• Obtain approval of build strategy and schedule from senior management, production management and the customer.
• Prepare progress monitoring and cost control programs for the project to meet the contractual performance targets.
Job-Specific Skills:
• Having sound knowledge of construction and production methodology of ships/boats with steel and hulls.
• Must have knowledge of installing and commissioning of ship systems such as marine engines, propulsion systems, auxiliary systems, electrical and instrumentation systems, automation systems, navigation and communication systems, alarm & monitoring systems.
• Must be able to liaise with class, customer and other statutory agencies from time to time.
Qualifications:
• Engineering Degree in Mechanical or Marine with Project Management Qualification.
Experience:
• 10 to 20 years experience in ship building, or technical ship management with proven success in relevant project management.
